All materials provided. No experience needed — wonky is welcome.

    • A café table laid out with open paintboxes, mixing palettes and cups of coffee
    • A paintbox and two brushes beside a sheet of pink and blue colour tests
    • A hand painting a small yellow bird with a brush, colour tests on the paper alongside
    • Seven people painting at a long wooden table in a bookshop, shelves to the ceiling on both sides and the shopfront window behind

Everything is laid out for you, and nobody is looking over your shoulder. See what a workshop is like

Hooi See also brings workshops to offices, birthdays and away-days — a bookshop, a meeting room, a hall of forty. Bring one to your group

      The painter — Hooi See

I was searching outside for strength. Turns out it was inside me all along.

It started during a health journey that knocked me sideways. I was looking for something to quiet the mind, and found watercolour, which turned out to be the right mix of focus, calm, and flow. I’d been searching everywhere for the right words, the right quote, anything to steady me, without realizing the strength was already mine.

These days I run workshops, and almost everyone says the same thing: “I can’t paint.” That was never the point. It’s just permission to be, to paint what feels right instead of what you think you should.
